07/2017 Montreal Protocol: safety and energy efficiency as top priorities

Middle of July, the Parties to the Montreal Protocol met for their 39th Open Ended Working Group (OEWG) in Bangkok. The meeting was the first since the agreement on the Kigali amendment end of 2016, which foresees a global phase-down of HFCs. More than 190 countries participated, including numerous observers from industry and NGOs and energy efficiency and safety standards were presented as key priorities.

07/2017 France plans tax on HFCs

The new plan on the „ecological transition“ in France foresees a tax on HFCs. Details are not known yet, but it seems that – as of 2018 –  the tax could amount to 30.5 Euro/tonne of CO2-eq which means roughly 117 Euro/kg of R-404A (GWP of 3922).

07/2017 The Institute of Refrigeration is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 1st IIR International Conference on the Application of HFO Refrigerants.

The conference will take place on the 2nd -5th September 2018 in the centre of Birmingham at Austin Court Conference Centre. Papers will provide up-to-date, information on the experience and use of the new family of A2L refrigerants known as HFOs.
